This piece began life as a flat ceramic bead. It has then been coated with 4-5 layers of silver clay. Once that dried I then had fun gradually building up the moonlit landscape you see using thin sheets of hand textured silver. It took about a week to construct, waiting for each layer to dry before I could move onto the next stage. Then after firing it was hand polished and the cord attached, giving it a modern feel.
I love mine and wear it loads - see the photo of me to get an idea of its scale!
I enjoy being outdoors in the countryside and growing up with parents interested in geography means I have always been fascinated by the landscape and natural landforms, so there is no surprise it has made its way into my jewellery. Mountains are timeless and although we have hills here in Sowerby we certainly don't have mountains!
I love how the moon can connect us, this year I haven't been able to see my family much but have sometimes commented on the brightness of a full moon and we have all looked out, wherever in the country we are to see it.
